MODERN WOOD
Modern Wood utilizes Modern as subject matter in a Post Modern era. Modern Wood provides a form of eye furniture, a place where the eyes can rest within a Pop Jumble of contained light. Modern Wood is made by stacking wood & plastic, creating wall sculptures that appear to hover or pieces that rise from the floor like alien crystals. The intention of Modern Wood is to transform defined space into modern space. Any enclosure can be transformed into a modern environment by introducing a piece of Modern Wood.
Knee Plays is a reference to performances by Robert Wilson & David Byrne. Sculptures as knee-slappers are manufactured with an allowance for slippage. I needed three sculptures in bright colors dancing in a row, like the Rockettes; the same yet not identical.
